Waldviertel granite
In a 160-year-old farmhouse in the Waldviertel, these granite stones were uncovered after removing the screed and digging down another 40 cm.
Unfortunately, they were far too large to simply be carried out.
Even using a jackhammer didn't get us anywhere.
Waldviertel granite - holes drilled
The holes were then drilled, in this case with a diameter of 32 mm.
Therefore, a spacing of 32 cm could be chosen between the individual drill holes.
The drill hole depth ranged from 20 to 35 cm.
Only 4/5 of the required depth needs to be drilled and subsequently filled.
Waldviertel granite - holes filled with Betonamit
The holes have now been filled with Betonamit.
To do this, a 5kg bag of Betonamit powder is mixed with 1 to 1.2 liters of water using a mixer.
The mixture is then poured into the holes and then the waiting begins!
Waldviertel granite - stone shows clear cracks
By the very next morning, clear cracks had formed and further cutting was child's play.
Waldviertel granite - in movable individual parts
Now, the manageable individual parts could be removed from the room relatively easily.
